When: Thu, Aug 6, 2026 ·
Where: Caymanas Park, Jamaica
The Jamaica Derby* is Jamaica’s most prestigious horse race and the crown jewel of the Jamaican Triple Crown. Held each year at Caymanas Park in St. Catherine, the Derby brings the island together on Jamaica Independence Day, August 6, for a full day of racing, fashion, and celebration. Only 3-year-olds are eligible, and for owners and trainers it’s a once-in-a-lifetime race — the one they’ve been pointing to since the Two-Year-Old Series. Run over 12 furlongs, the Derby is described as the most exciting race on the calendar, with 15-horse fields, live music, and thousands packing the stands to see who will take the $7.5-million prize and a place in history. Win the Derby, and you’re halfway to Triple Crown glory. Legends like _Royal Dad_ (1981), _Simply Magic_ (2002), and _She's A Maneater_ (2017) all etched their names.
