OBLIQUE SEVILLE TO HEADLINE LACOVIA iHUB LAUNCH AT LACOVIA HIGH SCHOOL

ST. ELIZABETH, Jamaica — World 100m champion Oblique Seville will return to his school community on Thursday, October 16, to headline the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the LACOVIA iHub at Lacovia High School. The reigning world champion will join the school and the Sandra Lindsay Foundation for the unveiling of the new learning and innovation centre, designed to equip students with access to technology, digital skills, creative learning and inspirational mentorship. Seville, who won the men’s 100m title at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in a personal-best 9.77 seconds, made history as Jamaica’s first male world champion in the event since Usain Bolt in 2015. His journey from schoolboy talent to global champion serves as an example of what dedication, opportunity and hard work can achieve. The LACOVIA iHub, built through the Sandra Lindsay Foundation and its donors, aims to create new opportunities for students through Information, Innovation and Inspiration. The ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on October 16 at Lacovia High School in St. Elizabeth. For Seville, the occasion offers an opportunity to inspire the next generation beyond the track, bringing his story of sporting success back to the school community.
